Brightwend / Give as a gift
A unique gift for parents & grandparents
Give a year of good days.
You can't be there every day, but you can give them days worth telling about. Each morning, Brightwend suggests one outing near them, at a real place that's open that day. Then the call changes from “oh, nothing much” to “guess where I went today.” At the end of the year, it all comes home in a printed book.
$139 for a year · holiday launch price through Jan 31. $179 from February 1.$179 for a year. One payment for a full year of Brightwend Family. It never renews.

Good days, together
Pick the place, go along, and the day ends up in their book.

How it works
- Buy the gift
We email you the gift code right away, and the welcome kit comes to you in the mail, ready to wrap.
- They open it
On the day, or whenever suits you. The code doesn't expire.
- Set it up together
Five minutes on their phone while you're both there. They text you a link to join their circle, and you're in from day one. Let them know Brightwend will never call to ask for the code, so anyone who does isn't us.
A gift worth opening
The Year of Good Days book comes at the end of the year. The welcome kit goes in the mail right away, so there's something real to hold on the day.
- A large-print setup card with the gift code and a QR code. This is the part you wrap.
- Field Notes, Volume 0: a linen-covered notebook for a line or two after each day out
- A short letter with the first three things to do, so day one starts before any setup
- Four stamped postcards, addressed back to you. They go out, write a line, and drop it in the mail.
Included with every Brightwend Family year, gift or not. It comes to you, so you can wrap it and hand it over yourself. Order by December 15 for delivery before Christmas. Ordering now? The gift code arrives straight away, so you have something to give, and the kit follows in the new year.
Family, for a full year
What the year includes
- A welcome kit in the mail right away, included: setup card, notebook, letter and four stamped postcards
- Your whole family in their circle: brothers, sisters and grandchildren
- Write back to the days they share, and look back on every one
- A heads-up if they haven't been out in a few days, if they turn it on (not an emergency service, and it never follows anyone’s location)
- A map of everywhere they've been, and a Sunday digest email for the family
- Pick a place for them: choose somewhere near them, with a note like "Dad took us here every summer," and it becomes their suggestion on a day it's open
- A Year of Good Days book: a hardcover of every day they shared, mailed to you at no extra cost
- Scheduled outings to do together, with the option of offering a ride, or a surprise day with everyone waiting
Already free for them, for good, with or without a gift: one suggestion a day picked for what they love and how they get around, real local places with the address and a map, every idea and every place approved by a person, and one family member following along.
Their Year of Good Days, in a book
At the end of their year, every day they shared is printed in a hardcover book: up to 2 photos, their note, the place on a map, who picked it, and the family's notes beside the day. A code beside a day plays the voice note they kept. It's printed and mailed to you at no extra cost, so you can hand it over yourself.

A tip from us: the best time to give it is when you're in the same room. Most families set it up over the holiday visit, so the first suggestion arrives the morning after you leave.
Questions
How much is it?
$139 for a year · holiday launch price through Jan 31. $179 from February 1.$179 for a year. One payment, and it never renews. Everything for a year, one payment: a new outing every morning, the whole family following along, the welcome kit, and their hardcover Year of Good Days book. About 38¢ a day. Brightwend stays free for your parent for good, and they never see a price in the app.
Can I buy it for my own family, not as a gift?
Yes. It's the same Brightwend Family, one payment for a year. At checkout, choose to have it sent to you, then enter the code whenever you're ready. The year goes to your parent's Brightwend, and everyone in their circle can join in. Want to try it first? Start free. Free has no time limit.
How is this different from a memory book?
Memory books send a question a week and ask your parent to look back. Brightwend sends one small thing to do every day, so there's always something to look forward to. The printed book at the end maps a year they actually lived, in their own words.
What's in the welcome kit?
A large-print setup card with the gift code, a linen field notebook, a short letter with the first three things to do, and four stamped postcards addressed back to you. It's included with every Brightwend Family year, and it goes in the mail right away.
We bought it at the holiday price. Does the code still work after January 31?
Yes. The price is locked in when you pay. The code is a full year of Brightwend Family whenever it's used, and it never expires.
Will it renew automatically?
No. Brightwend Family covers one year and then stops. Near the end we'll ask whether anyone wants another year. Nobody is charged unless they choose to buy it. If nobody does, they keep using Brightwend free, and choose the one person who stays in their circle.
Where do the kit and the book go?
To you, at the address you give when you pay. We'll mail the welcome kit now and the book at the end of their year, so you can wrap it and hand it over yourself. We never ask them where they live. To change the address before the book goes to print, email [email protected].
What if they don't have a smartphone?
Brightwend also works in the web browser on a tablet or computer. For now the daily suggestion comes as an app notification or by email. Texts are coming soon.
They already use the free version. Can I still give it?
Yes. Redeeming the code upgrades their existing account. Nothing they've saved is lost.
Can I give it to more than one parent?
One gift covers one person, and the rest of the family joins their circle for free. For two parents, buy two gifts.
What if it's not for them?
Full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked, or within 30 days if the gift code hasn’t been used. You keep the welcome kit. Email [email protected].
Where does Brightwend work?
Brightwend has named places in 32 metro areas across NC, SC, GA and FL. Elsewhere in those states, and anywhere else in the US, it suggests everyday ideas at home and close by, without named places yet. We'll tell you when we arrive near you.
